Welcome to D'Landra Wooden Floors: Why South Florida Homeowners Are Choosing Luxury Vinyl Plank

Welcome to the D'Landra Wooden Floors blog! We're a small, family-run flooring company based right here in Coral Springs, founded in 2021 by Alex Landra. We don't have a big showroom with rows of samples under fluorescent lights - instead, we bring the showroom to you. It's what we call Floor 2 Your Door: a free in-home estimate where we bring real samples to your kitchen table, measure your rooms, and hand you a written quote before we leave. No pressure - just high-quality floors at a price that works for your family.

To kick things off, we wanted to talk about the flooring product more South Florida homeowners are asking for than almost anything else right now: luxury vinyl plank.

Our Climate Is Tough on Floors

If you've lived in Coral Springs, Parkland, Coconut Creek, or anywhere in Broward County for more than a summer, you know what our homes are up against - thick humidity nine months out of the year, air conditioners cycling on and off, afternoon downpours, and hurricane season hanging over June through November. Add in the fact that most of our homes sit on a concrete slab foundation, and you've got a set of conditions that plenty of flooring products simply were not built for.

What Makes LVP Different

  • A fully waterproof core - spills, humidity, even a leaky washing machine won't cause swelling or warping.
  • Convincing wood-look designs, in wide planks and realistic textures, without the moisture sensitivity of real wood.
  • A tough wear layer that shrugs off flip-flops, dog nails, and rolling toy trucks.
  • Stays put on a concrete slab - no acclimation drama, no reacting to humidity swings the way solid wood can.
  • Warmer and quieter underfoot than a hard, cold floor - comfortable for bare feet all year.

Because luxury vinyl plank is built entirely from synthetic layers rather than wood fiber, it simply doesn't care about the moisture in our air the way other floors can. That's a big part of why we've seen it become the go-to choice for kitchens, entryways, Florida rooms, and honestly, entire homes across Broward County. If you like the softer look of sheet goods over planks, our vinyl flooring line covers that too.

Built for Hurricane Season, Too

We'll go deeper on storm prep later this year, but it's worth mentioning now: because LVP is waterproof, it holds up far better than wood-based floors if a storm knocks out power for a few humid days, or if a window seal fails during heavy rain. That peace of mind matters a lot to families here.
